A Human Canvas

"He was numbered with the transgressors." -- Isaiah 53:12 Have you ever wondered why Jesus allowed himself to be numbered with us? I think one of the reasons He was numbered with us, brutally beaten, and died a horrible death to demonstrate the seriousness of sin. To show its destructive power, He who knew no sin, allowed himself to become a human canvas for the destructive power of sin in our lives. Jesus walked the earth living a sinless life living above the effects of sin. Then for one day he allowed sin to have its way in his body, not that he partook of sin in any way, but he allowed the effects of our sin to manifest itself on his body. Think of the destruction! The graphic details have been portrayed in movies and proclaimed from pulpits. Jesus’ bloody body, ripped to shreds by the whip, bruised by the blows of evil men, and pierced for our sin is a testimony to the destructive nature of sin. Do not let sin have its way in you. Though Satan would have us deny it, sin is always destructive. It will always lead to death.
